Yogonet and BNLData reported that 5% of voters surveyed by Ipespe/Abrapel identified the ban on betting as the issue that weighed most heavily on their vote in the first round of 2026. In Brazil, the figure shows electoral relevance, but the breakdown among Flávio Bolsonaro voters was not disclosed.
Difference between voter groups
According to Yogonet and BNLData, the share that cited the end of betting reached 10% among voters for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, double the overall average. The corresponding percentage among Flávio Bolsonaro voters was not published. Why does the impact attributed to the issue differ between the groups if the survey did not disclose this figure for one of them? The survey does not allow this question to be answered.
Most cited topics in the survey
CNN Brasil reported that corruption and the crisis at the STF were the most decisive issue for 24% of respondents. The economy, employment and prices came next, with 17%. Within this broader set of responses, the result on betting indicates an issue cited less often than the first two topics, without demonstrating that it independently determined the electoral result.
How the survey was conducted
According to Yogonet, BNLData and CNN Brasil, Ipespe surveyed 1,500 voters between October 6 and 8 through random digital recruitment. The stated margin of error was 2.6 percentage points. BNLData and Yogonet also reported that the survey was registered with the Superior Electoral Court under protocol BR-00933/2026.
- According to BNLData, the ban on online betting had the same 5% attributed to the end of the 6×1 schedule.
- BNLData reported that the increase in Bolsa Família was cited by 3% of voters as the issue considered most.
- CNN Brasil reported that the survey also included health among the topics most considered in the voting choice.
